Insert the CF card in a card reader and use the file manager to copy the image files to your computer. In most cases using a card reader transfers images much faster. In the case of your 10D, using the USB 1.0 is very slow.(1.5Mbit/sec) The USB 2.0 is much faster (480Mbit/sec)

Best Answer Remote camera control under Vista isn't supported by the current 10D driver. You'll have to go back to XP or upgrade to the 20D or newer. What is your purpose? The Canon Timer Remote is great for doing time-lapse / long exposures / interval exposures / delayed exposures. If you just want to download the files, a USB card reader is actually better for that. If you want to store the images directly on the computer, your out of luck there. You'll need to copy them from the CF card.
